A New Car

On Saturday, we bought a new car!  So, so exciting!

First, (Katherine, this is for you:) because the buying process was the most seamless, stress-free event!  I, thanks to my father, am a member of USAA, and they have a car buying service.  We went online, plugged in the car we wanted with all of the options, and it spit out the MSRP (which was the same on all the stickers at the dealers) then a "target price", which was our ideal amount that we wanted to pay.  After clicking "submit", they sent all that info to the dealer and within 10 minutes the dealer called me.  We discussed "deal-breakers" with colors and options, etc., and scheduled to go in this past Saturday.

We weren't sure what to expect.  Were they going to honor that target price?  Would we have to haggle down to it?  Meet in the middle between MSRP and the target price?  The Architect had prepped for battle.

The dealer we worked with was super nice, and said there are three of those vehicles (with our color combo) in the whole US.  We looked at the options each had and picked ours, the one in Baton Rouge.  He said they'll be able to get close to the target price, and actually came back about $500 lower.

So we agreed on a trade in price on The Architect's car, and made an appointment for this evening.  So tonight, we are celebrating Valentines Day over the purchase of a new car!

We are the proud new owners of a 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS 550.

Black exterior.  Black leather interior with Burl Walnut wood grain.

It arrives Thursday, but we bought different wheels for it which will need to be installed, so hopefully it will be ready for pickup on Saturday.  Which is just in time for our big night out to celebrate the one year anniversary of getting engaged!

  1. Thanks for posting how easy that process is - I'm going to totally look into it. My sister has USAA and I let her know as she is looking a new vehicle as well. Congrats! New cars are so exciting!
