The Architect had a trip the couple days leading up to Memorial Day weekend.
His sweet love notes that he hides for me never get old!
I love this man more and more every day!!
To start off the weekend, The Architect brought me a caramel apple from where he was.
It was a "congrats on your new smile" gift.
We watered and nurtured the flowers we planed a month ago.
We overhauled our front bed and removed all the junipers so that the bed was much bigger for just flowers.
This allowed us to have lots of color without putting flowers under the tree.
We went with white angelonias in the back of the bed and pink and white begonias in the front.
(I'm SO excited for our new sod in the front yard come this fall!)
In a couple different beds in the back yard (and some pots on the porch), we planted pink and white periwinkles.
(The pink doesn't show up well in this pic)
Our back yard has never been completed, so its just grass, with some perimeter beds with trees.
We started putting color back there a year and a half ago and it made such a pleasant difference, that we have kept it up.
Even though we never use the back yard...
Until SOON...
Because we started working on the design of the back yard!
We measured everything and laid out the major features we want:
A stone flooring,
An arbor covering,
A fireplace with seating area,
A bar and grill,
Perimeter flower beds
The Architect decided that he wants to start this summer (this fall) rather than our initial plan (beginning of the year).
So we need to start picking out materials,
finalizing design details of the bar and grill area,
along with other minor details that we need to make sure are ALL covered so down the road we don't say, "aww, man, I wish we had thought to ___!"
So after we return from Cabo we are going to start diving into this project,
which means meeting with the landscape design group at The Architect's company.
CAN'T WAIT!!

Where will the swing set be?!?
ReplyDeleteNo swing sets! There is a park down the road. And I never had one growing up so he/she will be fine without one. :)
ReplyDeleteOOH!! It's going to be amazing! Can't wait to see it.
ReplyDeletePS. I glanced at the design and initially thought, "Wow, that's really amazingly detailed, he could be a professional!" and then, "DOH!! He IS!" :)
xoxo GFF
Love your new bright background!
